NSU’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) will again host its Intellectual Conversations. The next one, third in the fall series on “Migration,” is scheduled for 12-1 p.m. Thurs., November 17th. The upcoming event will feature Barbara Brodman, Ph.D., professor in the Department of History and Political Science. Brodman’s topic will be “Killing the Horse to Save the Cart: Musings on the Global Economy and Immigration.”

Though many vehemently defend or decry the dominant global economic system—even with their lives and those of others—few actually understand the origins and theoretical underpinnings of that system… or its relationship to the increasingly volatile issue of immigration.  A brief history of economic development in the modern age can motivate a more informed discussion of the pros and cons of the present economic order and the direction it should take in the future.

The conversation will be held in the Cotilla Gallery (2nd Floor) in the Alvin Sherman Library, 3300 S. University Drive. (Fort Lauderdale/Davie campus) – the event is free and open to the public.
