Take a brief break from your studies to enjoy a free concert by faculty members from the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences Division of Performing and Visual Arts.
The Concert After Class: A Faculty Recital
Tuesday, Jan. 28
7:30 p.m.
Performing and Visual Arts Wing, Room 309 | Don Taft University Center
This Faculty Series event stars three NSU faculty members performing original works: Bill Adams, D.M.A., associate professor and coordinator of performing arts, and adjunct professors Devin Arne, M.M., and Susan Chastain, M.M.
Adams will perform his compositions titled “Breakfast at Riverside,” “Happy,” and “Old Joe,” a song featuring lyrics written by his mother, Mary Helen Adams.
Arne’s music incorporates elements of indie rock and electronic music. Using Ableton Live computer software to create and manipulate loops and sounds, Arne will perform live compositions combining his vocals and a variety of instruments.
Chastain will perform selections from her own musical based on the children’s book Yama Yama Land. A fantasy adventure not unlike The Wizard of Oz, Chastain’s musical includes tunes ranging from an Elvis Presley parody (“The Frog Song”) to a hypnotizing piano piece inspired by composer Frédéric Chopin.
The Concert After Class is free, and all are welcome to attend. Tickets are not required for admission, although space is limited and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, contact Bill Adams at (954) 262-7610.
