This past January, Microsoft released Office 365, a new cloud-based version of familiar Office products that are accessible from any Internet-enabled location with a computer, laptop, tablet or phone. Microsoft has mandated that all existing NSU Live@edu email accounts moved to this new platform by July 11, 2013.
NSU’s Office of Innovation and Information Technology is working with all academic and administrative areas to ensure a smooth transition to Office 365. Numerous communications have been sent to students informing them of the upgrade. Daily messaging continued to the students up through the July 11 migration date.
Listed below are the changes that affect students. Please note that this upgrade does not affect NSU employees who are also students.
- All student email accounts transitioned from Live@edu to Office 365 (aka SharkMail) on July 11, 2013.
- The transition lasted approximately 72 hours. Students had access to email during this time.
- All email, calendars and contacts were preserved during the transition.
- Mailbox size increases from 10GB to 25GB.
- Student Office 365 email addresses and passwords remain the same as they were in Live@edu.
- Students can access Office 365 email at the NEW site: click here.
- Live@edu SkyDrive files remain available, but are separate from the new Office 365 account. Students may access SkyDrive files using their existing Live@edu credentials. Click here to access SkyDrive files.
- IMPORTANT: We recommended that all students login to their Live@edu account and change their password prior to July 11, 2013. This is especially important if they use SkyDrive files, as NSU will not be able to assist students with access to SkyDrive after the transition. Students may change passwords just, click here and update security settings by just clicking here.
