MELBOURNE, Fla. – Fresh off a career-high 39 points in Nova Southeastern’s convincing win over No. 7 Florida Southern, Connor Zinaich has been selected as the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week, announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon. The honor marks the second straight for Zinaich.
The reigning U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) National Player of the Week, Zinaich may be in the running for another national recognition as well after connecting on 15-of-23 from the field, including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc, in the Sharks’ 117-95 victory against a Moccasins team that was previously unbeaten in SSC play. The redshirt-junior’s 39 points are the most by any SSC player in a single game this season, while he also added seven rebounds and four steals to his impressive stat line.
Zinaich currently leads the conference in both scoring (22.3 ppg) and field goal percentage (67.4%).
Now 10-0 overall, and 4-0 in the SSC, No. 5 NSU will look to remain unbeaten when it travels to face Rollins Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. For complete coverage of the action, follow the Sharks on Twitter @NSU_MBasketball or visit the schedule page on NSUSharks.com.
