Residents will have the opportunity to snack on chicken & waffles while meeting tutors from the university and familiarizing themselves with the designated location for tutoring within the hall. No matter what your experience with yoga may be, this is sure to be a fun event. Glow sticks and refreshments will be provided. Please bring a yoga mat or towel for extra comfort. Walk ups are welcome.

A Unity Canopy is a circular arrangement of 32 poles in a large field. Each pole is labeled with an identifier. For example, “I’m an international student,” “I speak English as a Second Language,” “I identify as LGBTQ,” etc. With yarn, participants tie to each pole with which they identify. This project celebrates the uniqueness of individuals and raises awareness of how labels impact our perception of and interactions with the world. Celebrate your first weekend on campus and be apart of a global challenge to increase awareness and inclusion throughout the Nova Southeastern University community!

Sharkapalooza, one of the great traditions at NSU, is the highlight of the University’s Week of Welcome (WOW). Count on Sharkapalooza to be a memorable welcome-home event, featuring a student organization/department fair, booths from our local community vendors, performances, great prizes, activity booths, and free food! Did we also say you get to win a car?! NSU students who scan their SharkCard at the entrance checkpoint will be entered into a raffle to win a car from our partner, Rick Case Automotive Group. The name will be chosen at the end of the event so make sure to stick around! PLEASE NOTE: You must be present at the time of the name drawing.

HOPE South Florida (Off-Campus Event)

Join us as we kick off our Service in the City volunteer nights in the City of Ft. Lauderdale. Volunteers will be serving with HOPE South Florida. HOPE South Florida is a Christian-based non-profit organization, that provides crisis and rapid re-housing assistance, and support services to homeless families, veterans and individuals. Volunteers will be assisting with meal service to homeless individuals in Broward County. Spaces are limited. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Register here.

Food trucks and beats from one of our well-known DJ’s will be spinning on those tracks. Make sure to bring an empty water bottle with you as there will be water jugs throughout the event.

Please note – You may not walk through the Don Taft University Center with paint on and you must be completely dry. Rinse stations will be provided at the actual event.
