Tools for Success is a series of workshops designed to assist students in adapting to university life and ultimately achieving degree completion.

The Topics for the Winter 2014 semester are as follows:

January 28, 2014 – Success Strategies for On-Line Courses
Want to lead the pack in your online class? We can show you how! Learn tips and tools to navigate the Blackboard environment successfully.

February 4, 2014 – Internships
In this session, the Office of Career Development will guide you through the steps necessary to obtain internships.  Learn the benefits of participating in an internship and start planning your search today.

February 11, 2014 – Goal Setting
This workshop will address why setting goals is important, identify different types of goals, and provide you with tips for staying motivated and on track once goals have been established.

February 18, 2014 – Time Management: Juggling School, Work, and Life
Learn various resources to assist you in managing your time efficiently and effectively. You will develop an awareness of time management tools and techniques that are essential to success in all aspects of life.

March 11, 2014 – Study Skills and Learning Styles
This workshop will help you understand your learning style and how this impacts the study strategies you may want to utilize as you prepare for exams. You will also explore how to approach different types of tests and the actual test-taking process.

March 18, 2014 – Research Tips and Time Savers
Learn how to use the library like a pro!  Discover common misconceptions about the library as a librarian shows you some helpful tips & tricks to make your research more efficient.

March 25, 2014 – Critical Thinking Skills
This Critical Thinking Workshop is an interactive opportunity to talk about and practice a few critical thinking skills. While critical thinking is really a lifelong learning experience, we’ll look at a few new ways you might think about classes as well as your own life experiences.

April 1, 2014 –  The Talk: Graduate School 101
Graduate students from various NSU colleges and programs share their graduate school experience.  Students will gain knowledge about how to prepare and be successful in graduate school.  Students will have the opportunity to ask questions to the panel.

April 8, 2014 – Empowering Your Emotional Intelligence
Emotional intelligence can be a powerful asset in our daily living. This workshop will focus on empowering one’s ability to utilize his or her emotional mind and logical mind to increase their academic success, decision making, and self-awareness.
