Tortuga Got Your Fin? Volunteer at Rock the Ocean

TortugaRock the Ocean’s inaugural Tortuga Music Festival is coming up on Fort Lauderdale Beach, and it promises to be a fun event. NSU students now have the opportunity to volunteer in exchange for your ticket to the festival! Work with your friends, request to be scheduled around your favorite performances and in addition to a weekend ticket – you will receive a Tortuga 2013 T-shirt (supplies limited) and a behind-the-scenes adventure.

Tortuga Music Festival is taking place on April 13 and 14, and NSU’s Oceanographic Center will have a presence in the Conservation Village – two booths highlighting our shark tracking work as well as the Oceanographic Center’s South Florida coral reef research – so stop by and say hello to some of your fellow students who will be working in the booths
Over the weekend, the beach will be transformed into an oceanfront music experience, featuring top country and rock artists and local culinary delights. Kenny Chesney is headlining the festival along with a roster of great performers. To see a list of all the performers and learn more about the festival, visit: http://2013.tortugamusicfestival.com/

If you do not want to volunteer, event organizers are offering a special $99 weekend pass rate ($159 at the gate) for Nova Southeastern University (NSU) students. To take advantage of this price, go to http://bit.ly/15vYUOg. The discount password is NOVA1

Together with Rock the Ocean, Tortuga will pair music with meaning by raising awareness about marine conservation and issues affecting the world’s oceans. The Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation is one of the partners in this event and proceeds of the show will ultimately benefit NSU’s Oceanographic Center.
