Students from the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences presented their research at the Southeastern Psychological Association Conference in Jacksonville, Mar. 2–5.
Attending and presenting research posters at the conference were NSU students Christine Harlow, working under the guidance of faculty adviser Glenn Scheyd, Ph.D., assistant professor in the college; Anita Singh and Tatiana Viena, under the guidance of faculty adviser Jaime Tartar, Ph.D., associate professor in the college; and Jenna Wells, under the guidance of faculty adviser Weylin Sternglanz, Ph.D., assistant professor in the college. They were joined by two students from Florida Atlantic University who collaborated with the NSU students on these projects. NSU students Isabelle Barbu and Amanda Lynch also participated in the presented research, but did not attend the conference.
In addition to the poster session presentations, students presented talks. Carlos Garcia, an alumnus of the college and a student at NSU’s Center for Psychological Studies, presented a talk titled “The Impact of Acute Psychological Stress on Spatial Learning.” Garcia collaborated with Christine Klopp, a student in NSU’s Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences. The students worked under the guidance of faculty advisers Tartar and Allan Schulman, Ph.D., professor in the college. Tartar also worked with an FAU graduate student who presented “Emotion and Cognition in HIV-Infected Women.”
