#Socktober (October 1-31)

#Socktober with NSU!

Did you know socks are the most requested item in homeless shelters across the country?

For the month of October, NSU will be participating in the famous “Socktober” campaign.
Socktober is known around the world for fundraising and collecting socks for homeless shelters.

The campaign has grown incredibly over the years, uniting millions of volunteers, and donors in supporting homeless individuals around the world.

For every $5 donation to NSU Socktober, the university will donate a pair of socks to local homeless shelters near our NSU campuses in Florida (Ft. Lauderdale, Miramar, Orlando, Tampa Bay, Jacksonville, Palm Beach, Ft. Myers, Miami) and in Puerto Rico.

All proceeds will go towards the NSU Cares fund, which assists NSU faculty, staff, alumni, and students who have been victims of natural disasters.

NSU’s goal this year is to raise $25,000 for NSU Cares and to donate 5,000 pairs of socks.

“It’s a challenge, but we know we can get there with the generosity of our student body,” said Gabriela Alvarado, NSU’s Assistant Director of Annual Giving.

You can also help spread the word by sharing the link with your to the campaign with your classmates and student organizations, TinyURL.com/NSUSocktober on social media with the hashtag #Socktober.

“We thank every single one of you for your support in helping us make this happen for these homeless shelters, and thank you to GEICO for partnering with us for this important initiative. FINS UP!” Gabriela concluded.
