Christine Ajayi, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Family Therapy (DFT), in NSU’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), participated in the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) Annual Leadership Conference held in Arlington, Virginia. The conference provides opportunities for current and future AAMFT leaders to receive training on division leadership and to network with fellow leaders. As part of the conference participants visit Capitol Hill and discuss the work of family therapists with legislators and agencies.
Ajayi is the President-Elect of the Florida Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (FAMFT) and is the faculty advisor for the SHSS Student Government Association (SGA). She was selected to be a 2012-2013 SAMHSA/AAMFT Minority Fellowship Program Mentor.
Ajayi was accompanied by Annalynn Schooley, Ph.D., graduate of DFT’s doctoral program. Schooley is the current FAMFT President. She is a faculty member at Capella University in the Department of Counseling at the Harold Abel School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Larry Barlow, Ph.D., the Executive Director of FAMFT, also participated.
