AUGUSTA, Ga. – For the second time in the 2019 season and twice in as many weeks, Timothy Young has received conference weekly honors, as officials from the Peach Belt Conference again named the NSU freshman as Peach Belt Field Athlete of the Week, this time for his efforts at the Embry-Riddle Spikes Classic in Daytona Beach.
Young crossed the 7-meter mark for the first time in his career in the long jump, soaring 7.07m for second place at the Embry-Riddle Spikes Classic over the weekend. The rookie from Kingston, Jamaica, made the distance on his second attempt which is now the longest jump in the PBC this season. Also now for the third meet in a row, Young has set the NSU program record in the event. In addition, Young competed in the 100m and two relays, including the 4x100m, which finished second in 41.60 with him as the second leg.
Young and the Sharks will be back in action next week, traveling south to Coral Gables for the Hurricane Alumni Invitational, April 12-13 on the campus of the University of Miami.
