FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – For the fourth time in as many years under head coach John Constable, the Nova Southeastern women’s soccer team is headed back to the NCAA Tournament. After winning 13 matches and reaching the Sunshine State Conference Tournament final, the Sharks have earned the No. 6 seed in the south region and will square off against third-seeded Mississippi College in the opening round this Friday at 1 p.m. in Miami Shores, Fla.
Nova Southeastern is joined by Barry and Rollins as the three representatives from the SSC to make the field of 56, while the aforementioned Choctaws, along with fellow Gulf South Conference members West Florida and Lee, round out the six-team region. Both West Florida and Barry collected automatic bids after winning their respective leagues this past weekend.
The winner of Nova Southeastern’s side of the bracket will meet the winner that survives between West Florida, Lee and Rollins. As the region’s top two seeds, the Argonauts and Buccaneers were awarded byes into the Round of 32.
The South Region Championship will be held on Friday, Nov. 16 at the site of the highest remaining seed from the region. The champions from both the south and southeast regions will then collide in the Elite Eight on Sunday, Nov. 18. The Final Four is scheduled for Nov. 29 before the national championship is played out on Dec. 1 at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh.
