The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences Division of Math, Science, and Technology will host a talk by Daniel Freedman, Ph.D., a renowned physicist in the field of theoretical physics. The talk will take place on Friday, Dec. 16, from 8:00 to 9:45 p.m., in the Performance Theatre of the college’s Performing and Visual Arts Wing in the Don Taft University Center.
Freedman will speak as part of the 2011 Miami Conference on Elementary Particle Physics, Astrophysics, and Cosmology, co-sponsored by the college and the University of Miami. His talk is titled “If Supersymmetry or Supergravity Is the Answer, Then What Is the Question?”
About the Speaker
Freedman, professor of applied mathematics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is one of the co-discoverers of supergravity theory. In 1993, he received the prominent Dirac Medal and Prize, and in 2006 the Dannie Heineman Prize for Mathematical Physics, in honor of his work with supergravity.
