SKILLSMAN, N.J. – Nova Southeastern University women’s tennis players Daniela Obando and Andrea Ivanovic continue to add to their 2017-18 accomplishments, as the top doubles pair for the Sharks received All-American accolades by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
“What a year of accomplishments for Dani and Andrea,” said head coach Doug Neagle. “They became a solid doubles pair, picking up multiple wins in close matches and against some tough opponents. I’m proud of how well these girls played together at the No. 1 position. They displayed great team chemistry, and both had the same amount of intensity and drive to win.”
Since receiving first team All-Sunshine State Conference honors in doubles, Obando and Ivanovic remained at the No. 7 position in the ITA doubles rankings for the past six weeks and were dubbed the third-best doubles team in the south region on May 23. The All-American nod becomes the icing on the cake following their stellar season as a doubles team. Together, the pair capped the season on a five-match win streak with a final record of 15-6 overall and a 7-2 mark in the conference.
During the win streak, Obando and Ivanovic posted a 3-0 record in the SSC Tournament that featured two victories against nationally-ranked opponents. including an 8-5 upset over one of the the top teams in the country, Klaudia Boczova and Eliska Petrackova of Lynn.
