FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Third-year Nova Southeastern women’s tennis coach Doug Neagle announced on Tuesday the addition of mid-year transfer Chantal Nosievici, who will join the Sharks’ 2018-19 squad in January. With NSU proving to be a deep squad through the fall slate so, Nosievici’s addition provides another experienced weapon for the Sharks.
“We are very excited to have Chantal join our team in January,” Neagle said. “She comes from a proven program with great results of her own. I am confident she will be prepared. We have some solid depth on our current roster and adding Chantal will push us all even harder. Healthy competition is great for any team. Chantal is a good person, a great student and I’m confident she’ll be a great teammate.”
Joining NSU as a sophomore, Nosievici was a standout rookie at Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) member Northeastern State in Oklahoma. In her lone spring season with the RiverHawks, Nosievici garnered second-team All-MIAA honors in both singles and doubles after going 15-4 at the No. 4 and 5 singles spots, also going 15-9 playing No. 2 and 3 doubles. Aided by Nosievici’s performances, Northeastern State finished No. 7 in the final ITA rankings last season. She also performed well in the classroom, receiving accolades for MIAA Academic Honor Roll and MIAA Academic Excellence, and was named an ITA Scholar-Athlete.
Originally from Cologne, Germany and a graduate of Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium, Nosievici won the 2017 Helix Cup Yonex Junior Tour, and was runner-up in the 2016 Wintercup Essen Abschlussturnier der Dunlop Junior Series.
