NSU Community Came Together for the Hurricane Sandy Relief Drive

Hurricane Sandy Relief Drive

Over two days – November 15 and November 16, the NSU community came together to collect items and supplies for the university sponsored Hurricane Sandy Relief Drive.  As a result of the drive, 24 boxes were shipped to The Rockaway Point Fire Department.  The fire house is located at Breezy Point-the area where the fire destroyed over 100 homes.  This is a close-knit community that is mostly occupied by employees of NY Fire Dept, Police Dept, and  other city employees.

This was truly a demonstration of the NSU community coming together because it combined the work of students, staff, faculty, and alumni to ensure success of the drive.  As a result of those at the main campus, staff worked closely with the NSU Manhattan Alumni Chapter President, Elaine Papas, to ensure items were delivered to the Rockaway Point Fire Department.
