PEMBROKE, N.C. – Another round of honors and preseason rankings came in this week for Nova Southeastern baseball, as the Sharks received their third preseason top-25 nod from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), which listed NSU at No. 22. In addition, outfielder Samuel Duran also was named among the NCBWA’s Preseason All-America teams.
Hailing from Melbourne, Fla., Duran was initially named to the NCBWA All-South Region first team and this week received All-American honorable mention. A senior Gold Glove candidate heading into 2019, Duran batted .384 as a junior with 33 RBI and 44 runs, leading the Sharks with 14 doubles, as well as five home runs, three triples and 13 steals. Las season, Duran received All-Region honorable mention and was an All-Sunshine State Conference first-teamer.
Of the three preseason rankings to date, the highest for the Sharks came from Perfect Game, who slotted NSU at No. 18 heading into Friday night’s opener against Tusculum at the NSU Baseball Complex.
