Medical Students Collect Toys and School Supplies for Iraqi Children

Students from Nova Southeastern University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine are collecting toys, stuff animals, and school supplies for Iraqi children. The students, who are members of Sigma Sigma Phi, which is the national osteopathic honors and community service society, are collecting the supplies for Beanies for Baghdad, a nonprofit organization that will distribute the items to U.S. troops serving in Iraq. The troops will then give the supplies to the children of Iraq. The medical students are collecting Beanie Babies, other stuffed animals, school supplies, and small cars such as Hot Wheels and Matchbox. “We did this last year, and it was a great success,” said Austin Bach, a second-year medical student who is organization the collection.

If you would like to make a donation, collection boxes will be placed inside the Health Profession Division’s Steele and Morris auditoriums between Sept.  20 and 24.
