MELBOURNE, Fla. – Following her first career win at the national championship-like Barry U Invitational, Sophie Madden has been selected as the Sunshine State Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week.
Madden’s efforts propelled No. 1 Nova Southeastern to its sixth consecutive tournament victory and seventh overall this year. The junior posted a bogey-free 70 in the final round to hold off teammate Jamie Freedman for the top spot at two-under par for the tournament, her fifth straight Top-10 finish. The (-2) 70 came a day after rounds of 70 and 74 to as the Sharks rolled to the eventual 12-shot victory in an event that featured five of the nation’s Top-6 programs.
The native of Essex, England currently ranks as the No. 12 player in NCAA Division II.
