Law Center Charity Auction Raises Over $17,000

On Fri., Feb. 25, the Public Interest Law Society raised over $17,000 at a charity auction held at the Shepard Broad Law Center. The money raised will be used to fund fellowships for students who work in public interest law in the summer.

Among the items auctioned, favorites included opportunities to dine and play golf with professors, an African mask donated by a professor, a baseball bat signed by Andres Galarraga, and “Dean for a Day” with Law Center Dean Athornia Steele, J.D.

One auction item, a car wash and detail job by three SBA members, was a particularly appealing item for some, including one professor who outlined the horrors that her kids have done to her car – such as French fries stuffed between the seats. The bidding for the car wash was intense, with the final bid landing at $175.
