HoopDirt.com Recognizes Crutchfield as DII Coach of the Week

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – With his team continuing its torrid start to the 2018-19 campaign, Nova Southeastern head coach Jim Crutchfield has been named HoopDirt.com’s Division II Coach of the Week, presented by Just Play Solutions.

Fresh off the NCAA-mandated 10-day layoff, the Sharks still didn’t lose a step, throttling the nation’s No. 7 team in Florida Southern, 117-95, last Saturday. The Moccasins entered the ball game surrendering just 73.6 points per game, yet Crutchfield’s club hung 71 alone in the first half. Nova Southeastern set a new program record with its 10thconsecutive victory in the process, and in doing so, also moved to 4-0 in the Sunshine State Conference for the first time since 2008-09.

As recently as Wednesday, the Sharks collected their 11th win of the season in a dominant 92-65 effort on the road at Rollins. Led offensively by David Dennis and Eddie Puisis, Nova Southeastern drilled 11 first-half three-pointers en route to victory, avenging last year’s postseason loss to the Tars in the SSC Tournament quarterfinal round.

Nova Southeastern currently leads NCAA Division II in six statistical categories, including points per game (109.5).

The Sharks will look to keep rolling in SSC play when they head to Melbourne, Fla. on Saturday for a meeting with Florida Tech. For complete coverage of the action, follow the Sharks on Twitter @NSU_MBasketball or visit the schedule page on NSUSharks.com.
