MELBOURNE, Fla. – For the second consecutive year, Nova Southeastern women’s soccer standouts Emma Heikkila and Adanna Edwards have been named All-Sunshine State Conference selections, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.
A First Team All-SSC pick in 2017, Heikkila made the cut once again following an impressive junior season in which she has been the focal point of a Nova Southeastern offense that tops the SSC in goals scored (43). The Finland native has led the Sharks in both goals (9) and points (22), while tying a team high with four assists. Heikkila has also tallied two game-winners, including the golden goal in a double-overtime victory over Embry-Riddle back on Sept. 19. Her 20 career goals rank tied for seventh all-time in program history.
Edwards, the SSC Freshman of the Year a season ago, lands on the second team after racking up seven goals and three assists in 11 starts during the regular season. The sophomore has registered two multi-goal efforts, and like Heikkila, has two game-winners to her credit. Edwards’ goal and point totals both rank among the Top-10 in the SSC.
“They have been our two biggest impact players,” head coach John Constable replied when asked about both Heikkila and Edwards. “They have stepped up time and time again in the biggest games, and I value and appreciate the job those two have done. We brought them to this program to have a big impact and they are doing precisely that. I am very proud of them.”
Nova Southeastern will host Rollins in the SSC Tournament semifinal on Thursday at 7 p.m. For complete coverage of the action, visit the schedule page on NSUSharks.com or follow the Sharks on Twitter @NSU_WSoccer.
