FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Having already been named an All-Sunshine State Conference performer just two weeks ago, Nova Southeastern women’s soccer standout Emma Heikkila added another postseason accolade on Wednesday after being selected to the Division II Collegiate Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-South Region Second Team.
Heikkila, a junior, elevated her game in 2018, propelling the Sharks to their fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. In 17 starts this season, the native of Tornio, Finland posted team-highs in both goals (9) and points (23), while tying for the team lead with five assists. Heikkila also tallied two game-winners, moving her into a tie for seventh all-time in program history with 20 career goals.
Barry’s Christy Grimshaw was recognized as the D2CAA All-South Region Player of the Year.
