In conjunction with the Distinguished Speakers Series talk by psychologist Elizabeth Loftus, Ph.D., the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences Division of Math, Science, and Technology will host “Where Is Memory in the Brain?” Featuring presentations by faculty and students, the event will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 8, from 12:10 to 1:00 p.m., in the Parker Building, room 147A.
The panel will include James Munoz, Ph.D., assistant professor in the college, as well as Rachael Berger and Timothy Brugman, biology majors in the college. Munoz will present a “Brief History of the Search for Memory in the Brain” and a case study on noted psychology patient Henry Gustav Molaison. Berger will speak on “The Role of Protein Kinase M Zeta” in memory, while Brugman will cover “The Role of Neural Stem Cells.” Following the presentations, there will be an open discussion on how recent advances in neuroscience have impacted our understanding of memory.

The lecture is free, but tickets are required. Pick up tickets in the college’s Office of the Dean, located in the Mailman-Hollywood Building, second floor.
