CAHSS Professor’s Two New One-Act Plays to have Dramatic Readings on March 19th

Jim Doan, Ph.D.James Doan, Ph.D., professor in the the Department of Literature and Modern Lanuages in NSU’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) will have dramatic readings of his two new one-act plays by the Actors Community Theatre of Davie (ACT) on March 19, 2016. Come and enjoy “Good and Evil in an Irish Context.”

The plays are Never Gamble with the Devil and Jack the Ripper? The first is a retelling of the Dr. Faustus story set in Ireland, England and France, in which we see the central character (Jack) in a contest not only with Auld Nick but with the parish priest for control of a magical deck of cards.  The second play sheds light on the identity of the serial killer in 1880s London, as well as the women upon whom he preyed, both English and Irish. Together the plays reflect the tensions within the late 19th-century Irish diaspora in a European milieu.

Tickets are $5 and seating is limited, so please reserve early.  Checks may be sent payable to “Town of Davie” c/o James Doan, 7211 SW 42nd Ct., Davie, FL 33314.
