College of Pharmacy (COP) Palm Beach student, Daniela Valencia, has been accepted to participate in the Veteran’s Association (VA) VALOR Pharmacy Program at the West Palm VA. Daniela was awarded one of two positions that many other pharmacy students from the state of Florida had applied for. The VA Learning Opportunities Residency, VALOR Program gives outstanding students an opportunity to gain experience in clinical pharmacy at a VA Healthcare Facility. Daniela will be involved in didactic experiences, pharmacy based clinical conferences, as well as clinical practice with a pharmacist preceptor during the program.

When Daniela got the call regarding her acceptance into the VALOR program, she expressed her enthusiasm, “I had my interview on Monday at the WPB VA Medical center, and to be honest I was very nervous, it was my first time interviewing with such a large panel. I would like to let you know that Dr. Hobbs from the WPB VA just called to tell me that I was selected to join the VALOR internship program. I am beyond grateful and excited.”

Daniela is the COP’s Student Pharmacist of the Month for March 2014 in recognition of her being an outstanding leader, exceptional peer mentor, exemplary representative of the COP for her community involvement, and a remarkable student in academic excellence.
