MELBOURNE, Fla. – Officials from the Sunshine State Conference announced on Monday that Nova Southeastern freshman Nathan Campbell has been named the SSC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for his performance against Florida Tech on Saturday.
The honor is the first of Campbell’s career, the first for NSU as a team this season.
Campbell’s complete-game effort in a 6-1 victory over Florida Tech earns him Pitcher of the Week honors. The freshman left-hander gave up a solo home run in the first inning before settling in and holding the Panthers to one hit and zero runs to go the distance. The southpaw struck out six and walked none across nine innings of work. The win takes the St. Petersburg native to 5-1 on the year and helped Nova Southeastern secure its third conference series win of the season.
His best performance of the season so far, Campbell held FIT to 0.69 batting and his WHIP for the day sat at 0.22.
The Sharks return to action in the confines of the NSU Baseball Complex on Wednesday with a rescheduled game against St. Thomas (Fla.), heading back to open a seven-game string on the road this weekend.
