FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Both the Nova Southeastern men’s and women’s track and field teams were named among the 2018 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II All-Academic Track and Field teams. In addition to the team honors, three student-athletes from women’s track and field team and one from the men’s squad also garnered a spot on the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team.
“It’s really exciting to have a large group of Sharks receive All-Academic honors,” head coach Bryan Hagopian said. “These student-athletes have not only achieved at a high level in competition, but have shown outstanding commitment in the classroom as well.”
Both NSU teams registered a cumulate GPA of 3.2, among the 132 women’s teams and 84 men’s teams achieving at least a 3.0 cumulative team GPA this season.
The trio from the Sharks’ women’s team were among a total of 405 women from 115 institutions who earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for their combined efforts in competition and in the classroom. The three Sharks who earned the individual honors are Amira Bendrif (Gr., Rabat, Morocco), Jazmine Elleston (Sr., Piscataway, N.J.) and Lia King (Gr., Hallendale Beach, Fla.). Eric Moate (Jr., Lakeland, Fla.) represented the NSU men’s team on the All-Academic Team out of 308 men from 92 institutions.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have reached a provisional or automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships in either indoor or outdoor seasons.
