Bossa Nova Chorale Performs Concert at Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale

On Oct. 6, students from the Bossa Nova Chorale entertained visitors at the Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale with a performance titled Africa Alive! A Concert of World Music. The concert was presented in conjunction with the museum’s current exhibition, Associations & Inspiration: The CoBrA Movement and the Arts of Africa and New Guinea.

Students in the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences comprise the Bossa Nova Chorale, which performed music from Australian composer Stephen Leek; selections from West and South African traditions; and popular conceptions of African music, such as Toto’s “Africa.” The chorale performs under the direction of Jennifer Donelson, D.M.A., assistant professor in the college.

The Bossa Nova Chorale will perform holiday classics in the college’s upcoming Premier Series production, PEACE: A Holiday Concert, presented at NSU on Friday, Dec. 2.
