Announcing the 2011 Outstanding Teachers from the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences

Each spring, the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences recognizes one full-time and one part-time faculty member as Outstanding Teachers of the Year for their strong commitment to student learning and student success. The college has many outstanding teachers, and these awards reflect endorsement and support from students and peers.

Shanti Bruce, Ph.D., associate professor, coordinator of writing program in the Division of Humanities, has been selected as the 2011 Outstanding Full-Time Teacher of the Year in the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences.

Jane Duncan, M.F.A., adjunct professor in the Division of Performing and Visual Arts, has been selected as the 2011 Outstanding Part-Time Teacher of the Year in the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences.

As a component of the prestigious honor of being selected as Outstanding Full-Time Teacher of Year, Bruce will represent all faculty members and welcome students to the start of the 2011–2012 academic year during the Convocation ceremony, which will be held on Tuesday, Sep. 6. Both recipients also will be recognized at the Baccalaureate Reception on Friday, May 13, in the Don Taft University Center.
