SKILLMAN, N.J. – Nova Southeastern women’s tennis junior, Ana Navas, continues to garner postseason accolades as the top-singles player for the Sharks was named ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) South Region Player to Watch for the 2019 tennis season.
“This is well deserved for Ana,” said head coach Doug Neagle. “She is definitely a player to watch for her senior year. I know she is excited to finish her college career strong. She wasn’t able to play last fall and she is very eager to have this opportunity to showcase herself early this fall.”
Navas received this honor after she was named to the All-SSC First-Team Singles. In the 2018 campaign, the product of Valencia, Spain played No. 1 singles all season posting a 15-9 record with an 8-2 mark against the SSC, including a pair of wins against the ITA South Region Freshman of the Year, Marta Vincens-Miquel of Saint Leo. Navas also moved up in the latest ITA National Poll to No. 26 and notched a pair of wins against nationally-ranked opponents.
At No. 2 doubles with Isabella Lowrey, Navas went 16-7 with a 7-3 record against the SSC.
The Sharks will await the start of the ITA South Regional Championships set to begin in the fall. For more information, follow the Sharks on Twitter @NSU_WTennis.
